Organizations are not required to disclose proprietary algorithms, trade secrets, model architecture or parameters, other individuals' personal data, or information revealing business strategy. However, the obligation to provide meaningful information about decision logic means organizations must maintain systems capable of identifying which AI systems processed a given individual's data, retrieving that data from training and operational systems, generating plain-language explanations, and responding within the PDPA's 21-day timeframe.

Correction Principle (Section 35)

Individuals have the right to request correction of inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or out-of-date personal data. AI systems introduce unique challenges here. When data is corrected, the question arises whether training datasets should be updated (the answer is yes, to maintain ongoing accuracy, though this may require reprocessing). Whether models should be retrained depends on the significance of the correction; for high-impact corrections affecting AI decisions in areas like credit or employment, retraining may be appropriate. Past decisions based on now-corrected data present an ethical dimension even where there is no legal requirement to reverse them.
